CleanUpRif started with a simple yet powerful mission: bringing people together to clean up beaches and natural areas while raising awareness about plastic pollution. But how do you reach a larger audience? How do you make people truly aware of issues they might never think about, such as microplastics in drinking water?
They needed a platform where volunteers could not only find information but also join cleanup initiatives. The website had to be accessible and easy to navigate, without unnecessary distractions. Since their message needed to reach a broad audience, we ensured a full Arabic translation to make the content more inclusive.

Another key challenge was community engagement. How do you make people feel connected to the mission? How do you make it fun and recognizable? That’s when the idea of a mascot was born—a friendly cartoon character that would carry the message of CleanUpRif across the website, the app, and social media.
We created a digital ecosystem that not only functions seamlessly but also connects with people on a deeper level.
The website is designed for clarity and ease of use, avoiding unnecessary clutter and delivering a clear message about the importance of cleaning up beaches and natural areas. It explains the hidden dangers of microplastics in our oceans and drinking water, helping visitors quickly understand why their help is needed. To ensure a smooth transition between web and mobile, we integrated a smart app bannerthat directs mobile users to the app, creating a seamless cross-platform experience.
To further strengthen the community, we developed an interactive iOS and Android app, available in English, French, and Arabic. The app allows users to organize and participate in cleanup actions worldwide. It also includes a built-in trash-tracker and chat function, enabling participants to communicate and motivate each other, fostering a real sense of connection and teamwork.
And of course, the mascot played a crucial role. This custom-designed character brings the CleanUpRif message to life, making environmental awareness more engaging and accessible. It has since become more than just a visual element—it’s a recognizable symbol for their movement.
Through this digital transformation, CleanUpRif has evolved beyond just a cleanup initiative—it has become a movement that continues to inspire more people to take action for a cleaner world.
